The Gothic romance genre became popular during the 19th and late 18th century. Although haunted houses and unsolved mysteries do go together perfectly, you also can find Gothicism in romance. It’s the perfect time of year to get hooked on the beautiful, mysterious castles or houses, rebellious anti-heroes (or even a central villain), turbulent relationships and spooky atmospheres. An ideal setup involves curling up near a fire, nestled in fluffy blankets, sipping orange hot chocolate whilst being surrounded by the scent of seasonal spice.
